Yak und Alpakahof

Animal adventures

Description

Probably the happiest yaks and alpacas in the Waldviertel live on the outskirts of Heidenreichstein: For the sake of their exotic animals, the Pollak family moved from their original village of Gießhübl to the north of Lower Austria. Here, both humans and animals have plenty of space - on a 7-hectare site with an open stable.

The domesticated yak breed of cattle originates from Central Asia. The yaks are bred in Heidenreichstein and are used - in accordance with strict organic guidelines - as a source of meat. The wool of the shaggy animals can also be used. At Pollaks, they live next door to alpacas - the famous "mini camels" from the South American Andes. They are bred here for resale.

Vacations in the Waldviertel - with yaks and alpacas

A great family tip is the vacation apartment at the yak and alpaca farm. With comfortable furnishings and a loggia, the accommodation is a self-catering hit - in the middle of the green Waldviertel idyll. The farm's amazing animals can be experienced up close. There are also numerous Heidenreichstein Excursion destinations in the surrounding area. The vacation apartment is available at selected times.
