Destination reached: nestled at 1,364 m above sea level in the Siebenbrunnenkessel on the Rax is the historic Schutzhaus.
After the Ottohaus, Habsburghaus and Karl Ludwig Haus, the Waxriegelhaus is the last stop on the popular "hut hopping" tour. 5 to 6 hours after the start from the Rax cable car summit station (depending on the length of stay in the huts ...) or around 1 hour from Preiner Gscheid, hikers can enjoy the in-house Waxriegel beer with Styria beef specialties. The landlord Martin places great value on regionality and the fresh and careful preparation of the food. The wines personally selected by the chef from small wineries in Lower Austria and Styria are also an insider tip.
