Altenhof station
Train stationDescription
The nostalgically designed Altenhof station along the Kamptalbahn belongs to the market town of Schönberg am Kamp and was only established in 1991. In the direction of Sigmundsherberg, the course of the single-track line changes sides of the river twice. The waiting shelter at the unoccupied on-demand stop provides the necessary protection from the weather.
Getting off
Not even a 10-minute walk from the station, you can enjoy regional delights at the Diewald wine tavern in Altenhof with its inviting garden and culinary delights. On the way there, you will pass the listed local chapel, which was built in 1780 and extensively renovated in 1981.
The history
In 1890, an operating turnout with 2 points, 2 tracks and 2 electric distance signals was erected here, with the existing station keeper's cottage serving as the reception building. After the operating points were abandoned in 1922, there was no actively operated station.
Due to the insistent efforts of local residents, ÖBB opened the optional stop in Altenhof at the end of 1990.
