Baden Josefsplatz train station

Train station

Description

Baden Josefsplatz station marks the start of the Badner Bahn line. Located directly in front of the Arnulf Rainer Museum, the nostalgic station with seating is in the center of the city. The route, which is around 27 km long in total, runs through 37 stations and stops and arrives at the final stop at the Vienna State Opera after a good hour.

Important stations along the Badner Bahn

  • Resselgasse (Karlsplatz): this stop in the center of Vienna is the largest transport hub of Wiener Linien. The station offers direct access to the Kärntner Straße pedestrian zone as well as Karlskirche church and the Naschmarkt.
  • Vösendorf SCS: as the largest shopping center in Austria and one of the largest shopping centers in Europe, this stop already offers sufficient reasoning.
  • Maria Enzersdorf Südstadt: the stop, which was modernized in 2018, offers connections to trains to Wiener Neudorf and Vienna every 7-8 minutes. A considerable number of bus lines also ensure smooth and timely connections to Liesing station and Vienna Hietzing subway station.
  • Baden Landesklinikum: thanks to the station opened in 2014, the Landesklinikum Baden and the nursing home are even easier to reach.

History

The Badner Bahn line was built in 1886. This ensured transportation for commuters to the provincial capital and opened up the suburbs accordingly. Traffic obstructions and expected congestion in the direction of Vienna were thus largely prevented.
