Drosendorf train station

Train station

Description

The town of Drosendorf had always been keen to have a railroad connection, but originally the line connection was planned via Wolfsbach. This idea was rejected in favor of Drosendorf in the course of the last route inspection and the construction and operation of a standard-gauge local railroad for the Retz-Drosendorf line was finally granted in 1908. The junction that still exists today is a reminder of this due to the originally planned new station building opposite.

The nostalgic station building welcomes arriving guests and immediately conveys a cozy arrival. Following the closure of passenger services on the Nordwestbahn line in 2001, the seasonal Reblaus Express makes this possible in the summer months. Although the train ride itself on the connecting route between the Weinviertel and Waldviertel is a unique experience, each of the 10 stations also offers its own special features.

The historic old town of Drosendorf can be reached from the station in around 15 minutes on foot and tells many a tale with its old town houses and medieval town walls. Whether you start, finish or meet the journey, Drosendorf is well worth a visit.
