Greifenstein-Altenberg railway station

South of the Danube lies the station Greifenstein-Altenberg in the Lower Austrian district of Tulln. Even though the entrances and waiting facilities have been modernized, the overall appearance of the station fits quite wonderfully into the natural scenery of the station. There is a ticket vending machine on site, loudspeaker announcements as well as digital display monitors inform the guests of the railway sufficiently about the current traffic.

Nearly 70 parking spaces for cars and mopeds are provided to rail passengers in the attached Park & Ride facility. The covered Bike & Ride station offers over 100 bicycle parking spaces.

Greifenstein Castle

The impressive walls of Greifenstein Castle are only a quarter of an hour's walk from Greifenstein station. The walls of the former surveillance fortress tower high above the entire area. The Danube power station, which can also be visited, and far into the south of the Vienna Woods can be seen from here.

Tempelbergwarte

If you have already enjoyed the view from Greifenstein Castle, you should definitely continue along the route to the nearby Tempelbergwarte. The 17-metre high lookout offers a far-reaching panoramic view of the Weinviertel and the entire Vienna Woods.
