Into the beautiful green Piestingtal
The Piestingtal valley is full of hiking and cycling tours to explore and enjoy the beautiful region and its very special adventure highlights, and the municipality of Gutenstein in the Gutenstein Alps is no exception.
Cycle along the EuroVelo 9 from Gutenstein to Sollenau or Rohr im Gebirge. The Piestingtal cycle path always leads along asphalted, flat paths, which is why it is also ideal for a bike trip with younger cyclists.
On foot, the Gutenstein Mariahilf circular trail takes you along forest and meadow paths on a 1.5-hour hike via Längapiesting/Schaftersbach and the Magdalenengrotte cave to the Mariahilfberg. Impressively designed pilgrimage churches, the ruins of Gutenstein Castle and Hoyos Castle are just some of the many sights to be discovered on this tour.
Tip: The Forest Farmers' Museum in Gutenstein tells the story of the numerous ancillary trades of the farmers and makes use of countless exhibits, which are presented in a tranquil open-air museum - well worth a visit!
