Description

The large rustic station of Hirschbach bei Gmünd lies at the upper edge of the market town of the same name in the Lower Austrian district of Gmünd. A ticket vending machine has been installed in the waiting room of the reception building, timetable notices and loudspeaker announcements inform passengers about the ongoing transport operations of the railway.

A number of parking spaces right next to the station make it possible to transfer from car to train without any worries. Almost 35 parking spaces for bicycles are provided in the Bike & Ride facility.

Through the small market town of Hirschbach near Gmünd leads the dreamlike, albeit challenging Waldviertler Wasserlandschaftsradweg. The 70 kilometre long trail starts in Schrems, passes through Heidenreichstein, Gmünd and Pürbach, but can be taken up again at any point along the route. The route has many an impressive resting place and vantage point in store and also offers a wealth of opportunities to savour the region's delicious cuisine during a stop.
