The large, rustic stop at Hirschbach station near Gmünd is located at the upper edge of the market town of the same name in the Lower Austrian district of Gmünd. A ticket machine has been installed in the waiting room of the reception building, while timetable notices and loudspeaker announcements keep passengers informed about ongoing rail services.
A number of parking spaces right next to the station allow carefree transfers from car to train. Almost 35 parking spaces for bicycles are available in the Bike & Ride facility.

Water landscapes
The small market town of Hirschbach near Gmünd is crossed by the beautiful, albeit challenging Waldviertel Water Landscape Cycle Path. The trail is over 70 kilometers long and runs from Schrems via Heidenreichstein, Gmünd and Pürbach back again, but can be joined at any point along the route. The route has many an impressive resting place and vantage point and also offers a wealth of opportunities to sample the region's delicious cuisine during a stop-off.
