Kamegg train station

Train station

Description

The beautiful waiting shelter at Kamegg station welcomes its passengers. The elaborately designed stop provides shelter from the rain and wind on the single-track platform of the station. The villages along the Kamp have been connected to the public transport network of the Kamptalbahn line since 1889.

Wanderlust

The hiking trail along the Kamp is located along the natural Kamptalbahn railroad line. Surrounded by a beautiful rocky landscape, the trail leads across the Kamp to the ruins of Kamegg and Stallegg and up to Rosenburg Castle.

History

The construction of the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) railway line meant a major economic boom for many villages in the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German). Not only did freight traffic and the easier accessibility of transporting agricultural goods to Vienna bring about a significant turnaround, many city dwellers also discovered the charm of the natural area around the Kamp and took advantage of the peace and relaxation in the form of so-called summer retreats. In 2014, the Kamptalbahn celebrated its 125th anniversary and ran a special train along the route to mark the occasion.
