Description

Litschau station is located in the northern part of Lower Austria along the Waldviertel railroad line in the municipality of the same name. The nostalgic reception building also serves as an event center at times, and tickets for the trip along the northern narrow-gauge railroad can be purchased directly on the historic NÖVOG trains.

Litschau station is located on the northern branch of the narrow-gauge line of the Lower Austrian Waldviertel Railway.

  • The nostalgic trains of the Waldviertelbahn to Gmünd start and end here.
  • Not far away is the bus station with connecting buses to the towns of Litschau, Schrems, Waidhofen an der Thaya and Gmünd.

Whether arriving or departing - at Litschau station you can experience railroad history up close. Numerous exhibits in the locally furnished museum wagon tell of the exciting hustle and bustle of rail operations. The lovingly designed permanent exhibition is a great way to start off a trip on the nostalgic trains along the Waldviertel narrow-gauge railroad and is also a great place to relax after enjoying the beautiful route.

Tip: Austria's northernmost grapevine grows at Litschau station, which has existed since 1900 - just like the station itself.
