Description
Mitterbach station is one of the mountain stops on the Mariazell Railway - and is also the last stop before the pilgrims' terminus at Mariazell. Thanks to its direct location in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, the most beautiful excursion destinations can be easily hiked and discovered from Mitterbach.
Mitterbach: From the train station to the mountain
The community alpine pasture Mitterbach is only 500 meters away from the train station. Two modern chair lifts take their guests comfortably to the summit of the Gemeindealpe - at 1,626 metres above sea level. In addition to great panoramic views, the leisure area offers relaxing hiking trails and great mountain bike routes. Particularly popular is the family-friendly Terzerhaus - with mountain cart and monster scooter track, playground and family-friendly circular hiking trail.
Another highlight at the Mitterbach station is Lake Erlaufsee - with a sandy beach and boat hire. Further excursion tips are the "hikeable" Ötschergräben, the impressive Lassingfall and the Wienerbruck reservoir.
