Railway station Furth-Göttweig

The single-track Furth-Göttweig station is located along the Krems railroad line. The quaint station building promises travelers shelter from wind and weather and enjoys a wonderful backdrop with the Stiftsberg in the background.

• Regional trains along the Krems railroad line to Krems an der Donau and Horn as well as to St. Pölten main station are served.
• The nearest bus stop directly in the center is a 3-minute walk away and offers connections to buses to Herzogenburg, Krems an der Donau, Meidling im Tal and Statzendorf
• The Göttweig Benedictine Ab bey can also be reached by bus from the train station.

Göttweig Benedictine Abbey

The impressive Göttweig Abbey dominates the region in its proud Baroque style and is easily reached from Furth Göttweig train station in around 20 minutes on foot. The abbey can be visited every day from mid-March to the beginning of November; guided tours must be booked in advance. In addition to the monastery restaurant, it is also worth visiting the special exhibitions and the monastery store. There is also a playground for younger visitors. Göttweig Abbey was added to the UNESCO World Hertige site list in 2000.
