Station Marktl

The small Marktl train station is located on the Traisentalbahn line and serves regional trains to Schrambach, Traisen and St. Pölten on the single-track platform. The nearest bus stop is a 5-minute walk away and offers connections to Türnitz, the bus terminal at St. Pölten main station, Lilienfeld and Vienna.

The history

The route was originally planned as a connection between the southern and western railroads. Due to a number of economically important large companies that had settled in the area over the course of time as a result of the existing hydropower, their needs and access to the railroad network were also a priority. This goal was achieved within the first few years thanks to the extremely efficient and coordinated rail operations.
