Station Nieder Fladnitz

Train station

Description

The typical station building in Niederfladnitz with the covered veranda is located in the middle of the former northern railway line, which has been operated as a nostalgia railway of the Reblaus Express' since 2001. Until the end of 2010 the station was used for loading timber goods.

Starting point

Whether the way to the castle ruin Kaja to Merkersdorf is covered comfortably in one hour by foot or the scarce half on the bicycle, is left to everyone. A visit is worthwhile in any case.

Niederfladnitz is also an ideal stopover on the Flora- und Faunatour Sternfahrt, on which you tour by bike in the direction of and along the National Park Thayatal.

If you spend 1 hour on your bike, you will reach the tranquil village of Felling in a northerly direction. There you will find Austria's only mother-of-pearl manufactory with the largest mother-of-pearl button in the world.

It's worth taking a look at the seasonal packages offered by the Reblaus Express!

The imposing Ruegers Castle in Riegersburg can also be reached in an hour by bike. A guided tour is only available for groups in June and September with advance reservation.

It is also worth getting off the train in Niederfladnitz for a shorter stop. The village centre can be reached on foot from the station in less than 10 minutes and invites you to take a leisurely stroll. You can then return home with the nostalgic train, the Reblaus Express.
