Station Pleißing-Waschbach

Train station

Description

On the route of the Reblaus Express, Pleißing Waschbach is one of 10 stations in the municipality of Hardegg. After passenger services were discontinued, the line was reopened in 2001 and has since been operated as a seasonal nostalgia train by the Nostalgiebahn together with the Heurigenwaggon. Until freight services were discontinued in 2010, Pleißing-Waschbach station was an important loading point for straw and logs.

The Pleißing-Waschbach stop is a popular starting point for an extensive hike into the Thayatal National Park, and the station is also ideal for a cycle tour into the green north.

Along the tracks by bike

The Reblausexpress cycle path takes you through the impressive landscape of the Weinviertel and Waldviertel and crosses the former northern railway line several times. Bicycles can be carried free of charge on the Reblause Express, so depending on the starting point, part of the impressive route can also be enjoyed on and alongside the tracks.

It also takes around 30 minutes by bike on a 10 km tour from the station to Austria's only mother-of-pearl manufactory in Felling, a destination that provides entertainment with a gift store, children's playground and the world's largest mother-of-pearl button.
