In the Melk district of Lower Austria's Mostviertel region, Säusenstein station is located in the town of the same name, close to the city centre. The bright bunks offer waiting passengers protection from wind and weather. Travellers are well informed about current rail traffic thanks to the notices and loudspeaker announcements. The on-site ticket vending machine allows ticket purchases around the clock.

Any waiting times often seem too short in view of the fantastic view of the Danube directly from the platforms.

Route information

The Säusenstein stop is on the Westbahn line and is located right next to the Danube.

  • Regional trains along the Westbahn line to Amstetten and St. Valentin are served here.
  • Furthermore, trains also run to St. Pölten main station and Vienna Westbahnhof.
  • Regional trains to Kleinreifling on the Rudolfbahn line also connect here.

Säusenstein Abbey

In the immediate vicinity of the station is the history-rich Säusenstein Abbey. The impressive building houses a private school and is a frequent backdrop for courses and events. The former monastery can also be visited on request. Not far away, it is also worth visiting the parish of Säusenstein, which is well worth seeing.
