Station Zissersdorf
Train stationDescription
The well-preserved façade with the large stop sign is emblazoned on the pretty station building in Zissersdorf. The construction of the railroad line in 1908 created an economically important connection to the surrounding regional communities. However, passenger services on this, the north-west railway line from Retz to Drosendorf, were discontinued in 2001.
The track, which is steeped in history and characterized by the natural landscape, was deemed far too valuable to be relegated or even demolished - rightly and fortunately so.
With the opening of the Reblaus Express, the line with its 10 stations between Retz and Drosendorf was given a new lease of life. With the Heurigen wagon and an extra compartment for children, an exciting attraction for families, hikers and cyclists has been created.
As a starting point for a pilgrimage on foot to the little church of Maria Schnee along the Thumeritzbach stream, the exit at the Zissersdorf stop is ideal. The route then continues along streams and forests to Drosendorf, where you can stroll through the beautiful old town.
The outward and return journey to Zissersdorf can be easily combined with the scheduled times of the Reblaus Express. It is always worth taking a look at the seasonal Reblaus packages on offer, which promise a summer full of variety and views.
