The large reception building at Emmersdorf an der Donau railway station is located in the marrow municipality of the same name in the Melk district of Lower Austria and is considered the gateway to the enchanting Wachau region. Passengers of the idyllic tourist train enjoy the impressive landscapes of the surrounding area during their stay at the station. Some parking spaces are available to train passengers, as well as covered waiting facilities.

Route information

The Emmersdorf an der Donau stop is the final stop along the tourist route of the Donauuferbahn, also known as the Wachaubahn. Tickets are available on the trains.

  • Trains stop here along the Wachaubahn to Krems on the Danube.
  • Connecting buses to Melk and Schallaburg Castle can also be reached on site.

 

Cycling for kids

Bicycles may be taken along free of charge on the trains of the tourist-operated Danube Embankment Railway after making a reservation in advance. In the holiday resort of Emmersdorf an der Donau there are numerous cycling routes which are ideal for all members of the family and set off from the historic market town to explore the Wachau and the nearby Waldviertel along the Danube. The Cycling for Kids Emmersdorf route is not stingy with sights, magnificent views and exciting rest stops such as the Weitenegg leisure centre and the longest natural sandy beach on the Danube in Luberegg.
