Kapellerfeld station is located in the district of Korneuburg in the Weinviertel, close to the northern city limits of Vienna. The two tracks of the station, which are accessible from the central platform, are located along the Laaer Ostbahn line. Ticket machines installed on the platform make it possible to buy tickets for rail services around the clock, and a glazed waiting area has also been installed on the platform to offer waiting passengers protection from the wind and weather. There are also up-to-date timetable notices and a loudspeaker system for announcements and information on train operations.
In addition, 15 parking spaces for cars and mopeds have been created at the directly adjacent Park & Ride facility, while the Bike & Ride facility has space for more than 45 bicycles.
Route connections
- The Kapellerfeld station is served by trains on the Vienna S7 rapid transit line in the direction of Laa an der Thaya via Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel and Wolfsthal as well as to the station at Vienna Airport.
- Trains on the Vienna S2 rapid transit line run to Mistelbach and Mödling.
- Connecting buses to Gerasdorf and Föhrenhain can be reached directly from Kapellerfeld station.
Marchfeld Canal cycle path
The Marchfeld Canal can be reached in around 20 minutes on foot or a good 5 minutes by bike from Kapellerfeld station. The canal system, which was built between 1986 and 2004 to improve water management in the Marchfeld region, ensures the long-term improvement of water quality and water supply by channeling Danube water into the Marchfeld.
As important as the construction of the canal is, the surroundings of the created network of paths are just as beautiful. With a length of over 100 kilometers, they contribute greatly to enriching the region's recreational offerings. The route from Langenzersdorf via Vienna through "Austria's vegetable garden" along the Marchfeld Canal cycle path is just one of many opportunities to cycle along the water and learn many stories about nature and the Marchfeld castles.
