Train station Ybbs a. d. Donau

Ybbs an der Donau railroad station is located in the Lower Austrian Mostviertel in the municipality of the same name in the south-western part of the Melk district. The original station building serves as the backdrop for the modern train station, which has been designed to be barrier-free and comfortable.

More than 520 parking spaces for cars and mopeds have been set up in the adjoining Park & Ride facility, and there are parking spaces for almost 130 bicycles in the on-site Bike & Ride station.

Route information

Ybbs an der Donau station is located along the Westbahn line. Although the station is located just outside the town center, it is easy to reach thanks to the Ybbs transport company.

• Regional express trains to Amstetten, St. Valentin and Vienna Westbahnhof stop here.
• At the station forecourt, bus lines offer convenient connections to Wieselburg and Zwettl.
• Buses also run regularly from the station forecourt to the city center.

Ybbs-Persenbeug power station

From Ybbs an der Donau train station, it is a one-hour walk across the Ybbs and further along the Danube until you reach Austria's oldest hydroelectric power station, the Ybbs-Persenbeug visitor power station. Entertaining guided tours and interactive experience stations provide a fascinating insight into the operation of the mighty Danube power plant.

Tip: The visitor power plant is located along the Danube cycle path. Take your bike on the train and cycle to the impressive excursion destinations on the Danube in around 25 minutes.

Expansion

In 2014, the four-track expansion of the line between Amstetten and Ybbs an der Donau was completed to enable the new sections to be used without crossings in future and to reach maximum speeds of up to 250 km/h.

In 2004, a speed record for rail vehicles in Austria was even set on this section of track - the ICE S reached a remarkable 305 km/h on route kilometer 91.
