History of the line
As one of the first fully nationalized railroad lines, the Traisentalbahn route was decisive for the great state railway era in Austria - even before the Westbahn became state-owned. Due to the ever-increasing road traffic and the neglect of the modernization of the railroad line, which became more and more necessary over time, the line became less and less important in terms of passenger traffic. For the economy, however, the continuation of the operation of the rear valley was of great importance, which is why it was taken over by the communities of the Traisental itself.
