Traisen train station

Train station

Description

Traisen station is located in the middle of the market town in the Mostviertel region. At this stop, the Traisen Valley Railway splits in the direction of Schrambach and on to Hainfeld along the former Leobersdorferbahn.

The historic building has a traditional design that has stood the test of time for over 100 years. In addition to a waiting hall and the 2 platforms, which are divided into a total of 4 areas, the station has an adjacent Park & Ride facility for almost 30 vehicles and a Bike & Ride station for 24 bicycles.

Regional trains in the direction of Schrambach, Hainfeld and St. Pölten main station run here every 60 minutes. The nearby bus stop offers further connections to Türnitz, St. Aegyd and Rotheau.

History of the line

Originally, the Traistentalbahn line ran as far as Kernhof. However, after the closure of passenger services in the 2000s, the railroad line was split into two sections. The first section to Schrambach is operated by the Austrian Federal Railways. The second section from Schrambach to St. Aegyd am Neuwalde Markt, which has been used for freight transport since 2010, is operated by the municipalities themselves. The special trips for passenger transport, which have been operated since 2012, stimulate tourism in the valley.
