In 2006, I took over my parents' vineyard - a whole three hectares spread out in small plots across the rear Spitzer Graben. Not much, you might think, but the sites are all steep and impassable and have also been organically farmed since 2010. This was and is not a matter of course in the extreme locations of the Wachau. My friend and colleague Peter Veyder-Malberg, who had recently moved to the Wachau and who gradually introduced me to the alternative world of organic viticulture, played a decisive role in my conversion. The path to absolute quality standards was thus mapped out.
