Description
The picturesque municipality of Schrattenthal, located in Retzer Land at the foothills of the Manhartsberg, is known as the smallest wine town in Austria. It consists of the three cadastral municipalities of Obermarkersdorf, Waitzendorf and Schrattenthal. Numerous renowned winegrowing families call Schrattenthal their home, and the vineyards stretch all the way up to the forests on the Manhartsberg. Viticulture has a long tradition here, dating back to the 12th century. An outstanding example of this tradition is the Mühlberger winery in Obermarkersdorf. As a renowned member of the Wine Road Weinviertel, the Mühlberger family produces a number of different varieties of white and red wines. These include the well-known Weinviertel DAC with its characteristic Pfefferl. The quality and variety of the wines, coupled with the picturesque landscape, make Schrattenthal an unforgettable destination for all guests.
