Description
Weingut & Erdställe Malus is a business that was born out of a passion for wine. As a young Austrian sommelier, the founder has many years of experience in dealing with wine and finally decided to produce wine himself. The Kirchenried, Bauerngebirge and Adamsberg vineyards are located on historic hills facing the March, whose microclimate helps the grapes to ripen. Species-rich vegetation in the vineyard ensures optimal soil conditions for the vines. The flowers and biomass provide food for bees, parasitic wasps and other beneficial insects. The wines are matured under controlled fermentation conditions in stainless steel tanks or small wooden barrels.
Historically, one of the largest knight battles between Ottokar II of Premysl and Rudolf I of Habsburg took place between Dürnkrut and Jedenspeigen in 1278. The wines of the winery are named after the knights of this battle. In addition to wine sales, the winery also offers guided tours of the stables, vineyard tours and wine tastings.
