Description
The Schrems high moor nature park is located east of Schrems in the Waldviertel. This paradise for nature lovers was placed under nature protection in 2000 and declared the 22nd nature park in Lower Austria. The nature park is open all year round and is barrier-free up to the Prügelsteg.
The peat bog, which is bordered by the villages of Langschwarza, Gebharts and Schrems, covers 300 hectares, making it the largest bog in Lower Austria. 119 hectares of the total area have been declared the Schrems High Moor Nature Park. It is also part of the Ramsar area, the Waldviertler Teich- Moor- und Flusslandschaften.
