Gut Oberstockstall

A guest in time-honored walls where alchemists once sought their fortune.

The historic property dates back to the 15th century. And because a house with such a long history comes with a lot of responsibility, the owners decided to open a new chapter with guest rooms. During the redesign, open room concepts and straight lines were combined with baroque cheerfulness and individual pieces with a strong character. Guests love staying here overnight, enjoying the ambience, the newly created swimming pond in the castle garden, the fabulous food and the excellent wines, which are produced on the estate according to biodynamic principles.

More than 1,000 finds indicate that there was an alchemist's laboratory on the Oberstockstall estate during the Renaissance period. How and why it was destroyed remains a mystery to this day. One assumption relates to the so-called Neulengbach earthquake of September 1590.
