Marktgemeinde Göpfritz an der Wild
Welcome to the heart of the Waldviertel: Göpfritz an der Wild is a market town in the district of Zwettl and comprises the villages of Almosen, Breitenfeld, Georgenberg, Göpfritz, Kirchberg as well as Schönfeld an der Wild, Merkenbrechts, Scheideldorf and Weinpolz. Göpfritz was first mentioned in a document in 1308. Today, it is a wonderful place to arrive and relax - for a short break close to nature and an extended hiking excursion as well as a relaxing vacation by bike.
Göpfritz an der Wild: the most beautiful sights
Numerous pretty local chapels and parish churches characterize the landscape. The listed station building dates back to 1885.
The elongated Göpfritz Castle is particularly impressive: the two-storey baroque building is now used as a community center and for events. Another castle is located in Kirchberg an der Wild. Also worth seeing is the former castle-church complex, which was first mentioned in a document in 1152.
Great cycle routes from Göpfritz an der Wild
The easy Thayarunde Waldviertel, which takes around 8 hours, is a circular tour from Göpfritz via Raabs an der Thaya, Slavonice (CZ), Wadhofen an der Thaya and back to the starting point. It can of course also be shortened - e.g. as a 1.5-hour top cycle route from Göpfritz an der Wild to Raabs.
