Hohenruppersdorf
The market town of Hohenruppersdorf, located in the south-eastern Weinviertel (altitude 244 m), covers an area of 21.41 km². With 886 (as of 2011) inhabitants and 369 private households, it is one of the smaller municipalities in Lower Austria.
Among extensive wooded areas (642 ha), the municipality has a high proportion of vineyards, making it the largest wine-growing municipality in the district of Gänserndorf. Around 55 winegrowers cultivate some 260 hectares of vines in the hilly vineyards. The "Open Cellar Day" in conjunction with the Leopoldi Hiking Day (Sunday before November 15th) provides an overview of the quality of the wines and the work of the winegrowers.
The new town hall houses the municipal office, archives, mother's consultation and ordination; the registry office is housed in the old town hall. Despite its small size, the municipality has an elementary and active middle school as well as a kindergarten.
