St. Georgen an der Leys

St. Georgen an der Leys in the district of Scheibbs lies at the upper end of the Melktal valley. The Leysbach and Bründlbach streams flow through the idyllic Mostviertel municipality, which consists of the cadastral communities of Dachsberg and Sankt Georgen/Leys. The village is also known locally as "Bründl". Hikers and short breaks in particular love the tranquil area in the Mostviertel. Locals and visitors alike can enjoy a wide range of leisure activities. There are also several historical buildings to visit.

The marked hiking routes in St. Georgen lead past natural sights such as the Kendler waterfall or the "Bichl Bucha". Friendly restaurants invite you to stop off and take a break. Away from the wonderful hiking trails, St. Georgen also offers plenty of exercise: with a riding club, tennis courts, soccer pitches and an ice rink in winter.

Sights in Sankt Georgen/Leys
The baroque parish church of St. George and St. Gregory the Great dates from 1758 to 1762 and the listed vicarage was also built in the 18th century. Also of historical significance are several aqueducts of the historic II. Vienna high spring water pipeline. These can be found throughout the landscape.
