Staatz

The Staatzer Berg is the landmark of Staatz. It is a steeply rising limestone cliff in the middle of gently rolling hills, formed at the birth of the Alps.

The mountain peak is crowned by the ruins of a medieval fortress. To this day, it bears witness to the important 1000-year history of Staatz. There are guided, historical hikes to the ruins that tell the story of the region and the "Betty Bernstein" children's hike brings the world of knights to life for young visitors on a "search for the castle ghost Kunigunde".

At the foot of the Staatzer Berg lies the tranquil market, where culture and nature meet harmoniously. In the midst of idyllic vineyards, many a good drop of wine matures in the cellars. The Staatz winegrowers' harvest can be tasted in the historic castle cellar as well as in the wine taverns. From the end of May to the beginning of September, the Staatz clubs take turns serving regional delicacies here at the weekends.

The gentle landscape around Staatz can be conquered on the hiking and Nordic walking trails. The biotope network shows newly created nature retreats.

Both the Staatz Music Society and the youth band provide cultural enjoyment. Cabaret and cabaret are served up in regular cycles in the castle cellar. The musical flagship is the Felsenbühne Staatz, which presents spectacular musical productions under a starry sky from mid-July to mid-August. The local Staatz theater group, which plays against the autumn blues in October, offers plenty of humor instead of music.
