Zillingdorf
The market town of Zillingdorf in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land lies on the eastern edge of the southern Vienna Basin. There is evidence that the area was inhabited as early as the 2nd millennium BC. This is evidenced by finds such as stool graves from 1800-1500 BC or shallow graves from the later Hallstatt period.
Zillingdorf in motion - yesterday and today
From 1830 and especially in the 1920s, mining in Zillingdorf experienced its heyday. The mine was shut down in 1931. In the meantime, two popular bathing lakes have formed on the site of the open-cast mines.
The natural community invites you to linger and relax - with a tranquil landscape and peaceful walking and hiking trails. Traditional festivals and a lively club scene are very important.
The parish church of St. George in Zillingdorf is a particularly beautiful eye-catcher. The listed church impresses with its Gothic and neo-Romanesque architectural elements.
