Zistersdorf

In the large municipality of Zistersdorf, history, viticulture, innovation and quality of life come together with warm hospitality. Above all, the diverse aspects on a touristic, economic and social level make this municipality in the north-east of Lower Austria a regional and attractive center.

The municipality of Zistersdorf, in the middle of Weinberger at the foot of the Steinberg, can look back on a long and eventful history. Over the centuries, it has had to defend itself against numerous enemies, such as the Kurucs in 1706. In the interwar period, Zistersdorf attracted national attention due to its considerable oil discoveries. And even today, pumping stations and the new wind turbines erected in recent years bear witness to the innovative energy industry in this region. Over the last few decades, town twinning agreements have been concluded with Zwettl, Hodonin (CZ) and Nienhagen (D).

The municipal area comprises a total of 9 cadastral municipalities, each of which has its own charm - Blumenthal, Eichhorn, Gaiselberg, Gösting, Großinzersdorf, Loidesthal, Maustrenk, Windisch Baumgarten and Zistersdorf. With an area of over 88 km², Zistersdorf is the largest municipality in the district of Gänserndorf in terms of area.

Typical of the townscape of the large municipality of Zistersdorf are the wine cellar lanes on the outskirts or outside the villages. One press house after the other is lined up next to each other. Regional winegrowers with their excellent wines pamper the palates of Zistersdorf's residents and visitors with their products. The community representatives and associations are always keen to bring joy to their residents through events and activities. In every village there are festivities as annual highlights with entertainment for young and old with music, dancing and food.

The infrastructure offers something for every situation. Hotels, restaurants, general practitioners and specialists, social facilities, businesses - Zistersdorf is a great place to live. The focus is particularly on the youngest residents. A total of four kindergartens, schools for all age groups from elementary school to secondary technical school and a comprehensive range of family-friendly childcare facilities are available.

And what to do in your free time? A visit to the library or the museum in Zistersdorf, active involvement in one of the numerous clubs, a bike ride in the beautiful countryside of the eastern Weinviertel or ending the evening with a glass of wine at the wine tavern around the corner.

The municipality of Zistersdorf is always open to visitors, businesses, newcomers and, of course, its residents. "Zistersdorf - living diversity!"
