The Heart of the Wachau World Heritage Trail

The Wachau World Heritage Trail combines everything that makes up the UNESCO World Heritage region: picturesque villages, stunning historic cultural assets and beautiful nature. This 5-day hiking tour takes hikers through the masterpiece of the Wachau World Heritage Trail on the left and right banks of the Danube: from Dürnstein via Weißenkirchen to Spitz, Rossatzbach and back to Dürnstein. (Stages: 2, 3 and 11 of the Wachau World Heritage Trail)
Day 1: Arrival
Individual journey to Dürnstein, overnight stay incl. breakfast in Dürnstein..
Day 2: Dürnstein – Weißenkirchen (World Heritage Trail, Stage 2)

Inspired by fantastic views and with plenty of history to boot, the hike leads from Dürnstein along a panoramic high trail through vineyards to the winegrowing village of Weißenkirchen.
Overnight stay incl. breakfast in Weißenkirchen.
Day 3: Weißenkirchen – Spitz (World Heritage Trail, Stage 3)
Trail length 10.5 km – hiking time 3h 30 min
This trail leads through the heart of the Wachau vineyards with its typical stone terraces and famous vineyards high above the Danube, from Weißenkirchen to Spitz.
Overnight stay incl. breakfast in Spitz.
Day 4: Spitz – Rossatzbach (World Heritage Trail, Stage 11)
Trail length 18 km – hiking time 6h 30 min
Winegrowing villages, vineyards, Roman paths and a nature reserve with oak and hornbeam forests all form part of this somewhat challenging stage from Spitz via Hofarnsdorf to Rossatz and back to Dürnstein. This involves taking the ferry to the other bank of the Danube twice.

Day 5: Journey home
