Details for: From Scheibbs to Ginselhöhe

Brief description

Quite demanding hike from Scheibbs (Rathausplatz) to Ginselhöhe and back.

Description

We leave the Rathausplatz via the Rathausstiege in the direction of Erlauf. We cross Haupt- and Gaminger street until we cross the river on the wooden pedestrian bridge "Sandsteg" and continue our path on the left bank of the Erlauf. Along the Erlauf promenade, we stroll through a shady chestnut avenue going upriver. We pass the Töpper and the Cardinal Franz König bridge. Where the Erlauf promenade finally ends in the Strudenweg, we turn right and, after crossing the Erlauftal railway, reach the Güterweg Lampelsberg. From here, we hike steadily uphill until we pass the houses Schacher and Goganz and finally reach the farm of the Ödbauer. Now our route leads - always keeping left - over Sturmlehen and the Karl-Riedl-Steig further up to Ginselhöhe (cross).

Author's tip

This point-to-point route can easily be turned into a circular route - we follow the Höhenrundwanderweg (HRWW) from Ginselhöhe and after a good stretch turn left into the Lueggraben. At Neustift, we enter a more densely populated area again, here we follow the Erlauf river downstream back to Scheibbs.
