Details for: Lilienfeld (Muckenkogel)

Brief description

Beautiful alpine pastures, magnificent viewpoints, 2 romantic waterfalls, and bright sunshine above the fog in the Traisen Valley. The popular route has everything a hiker's heart desires.

Description

The extensive alpine pastures belonging to the monastery high above Lilienfeld are rightly called the sunny roof of the small town. When there is thick fog in the Traisen Valley, the sun rules up there. A popular panoramic path runs over the magnificent alpine pastures, which can be easily climbed on weekends with the chairlift. Athletes with some sure-footedness start the route from the valley via the two romantic waterfalls. In total, five huts or catering establishments invite you to stop on the mountain. The summit of the Muckenkogel presents a monastery point with information about four monasteries in the surrounding area. The Muckenkogel, once the home of ski pioneer Zdarsky, has recently developed again into a winter meeting point for numerous ski tourers.
