Holiday amongst the vines

Because we care about the real thing

With around 28,000 hectares of vineyards, Lower Austria is Austria's largest wine-growing region and the perfect holiday destination for wine lovers.

In Lower Austria, there are over 150 wineries to choose from. They are spread across the 8 wine-growing regions of Weinviertel, Kamptal, Kremstal, Traisental, Wagram, Carnuntum, Wachau and the Thermenregion (thermal region). Austria’s largest wine province impresses with its steep wine terraces, gently rolling hills for cycling, and the picturesque cellar lanes that combine tradition and modernity thanks to wine taverns, cellar lane tours and traditional cellar lane festivals.

Be spoilt for choice

The variety of accommodation is great. It ranges from historic wine estates, to newly designed wineries, and everything in between. The room designs range from cosy and traditional to impressively modern. However, they all have one thing in common: they are totally devoted to the world of wine. Whether you are coming for a social occasion or a break for two, our wineries offer the right setting for every holiday.

Take a look behind the scenes

Experience wine production up close, and look over the shoulders of our winemakers as they work. Your wine-making host family will be happy to guide you through the vineyard and cellar, and to show you how juicy grapes are turned into fine wines. Needless to say, the wine tasting at the end of the tour is a highlight!

There is always time for indulgence. Some of our wineries have their own beech taverns, which are “unlocked” for a few weeks a year. Then you can enjoy a hearty snack and a good glass of wine in the atmospheric inner courtyards and gardens, before heading to bed just one or two storeys up.
