Description

Innkeepers make our cultural heritage a good deal better. They are the ones who embody the values of Lower Austrian inn culture with their hospitality, their connection to the region and their traditional and boldly reinterpreted dishes. Sustainability and regionality are also the core values at Gasthaus Gusenbauer in Krems-Thallern. Most of the produce is sourced from the restaurant's own vineyard, fruit and vegetable garden or from local farms. Landlady Astrid Michaela Wagensonner, who looks after the well-being of her guests with her team, always keeps an eye on things. Gasthaus Gusenbauer has been family-owned since 1897. In addition to pressing the wines, which are popular up and down the river, the apricot is given a big stage.

Living wine and tavern culture

Gasthaus Gusenbauer offers a tried and tested ambience with its regulars' table, bar, parlor, banquet hall and tavern garden. The roasted dumplings with egg and green salad, the cordon bleu with parsley potatoes or the crispy fried tuna medallions with garlic and vegetables are proof of this: Typical tavern cuisine is served amidst the vineyards and orchards of Thallern. The location couldn't be better. The village inn, which is located directly on the Bergwerksgedenk-Weg and Marillen-Wanderweg, is not only frequented by locals. The desserts are too good and well-known, especially the apricot pancakes and Malakofftorte. One opportunity to experience the inn and winery at its best is the annual Kellergassenfest.
