Gasthaus Halbwax
Tavern / innThis business is excellent…
Description
History comes alive in the wine cellar of Gasthaus Halbwax in Lichtenwörth. This is because it dates back to the 16th century and stocks a drop or two from days gone by. The wine list is correspondingly interesting. Young, modern items meet tried and tested classics - this also broadly describes the cooking line of the two host families Halbwax. Junior chef and qualified sommelier Florian took over the business in summer 2022. The family business is an excellent embodiment of Lower Austrian tavern culture: Regional dishes such as hunter's cordon bleu and roast pork are on offer, as is braised venison from Lichtenwörth with wild garlic napkin dumplings. "Der Halbwax" is happy to serve game specialties. The meat comes from the restaurant's own hunt. The tavern classics are supplemented with dishes from all over the world. The wine list has been expanded by professional Florian to around 70 items and exquisite rarities.
Enjoyment with protection from above
Since 1886 and now in its seventh generation, the Wirtshaus has moved in step with the seasons. The seasonal cuisine guarantees variety in the menu and thus delights the public. The Halbwax family's own herb garden provides them with the essentials. Fresh, local agricultural produce also finds its way into the kitchen. The ambience is harmonious and inviting with a typical tavern tavern and light wood. The banquet hall on the second floor or the guest garden are available for large celebrations. Celebrations are held without hesitation, with protection from above. The inn is guarded by a life-size statue of St. Florian.
