Gasthaus Halbwax

Tavern / inn

This business is excellent…

  • Falstaff: 1 fork
  • Lower Austrian inn culture

Description

History comes to life in the wine cellar of the Gasthaus Halbwax in Lichtenwörth. Because it dates back to the 16th century and has one or two drops from days gone by. The wine list of the house is correspondingly interesting. Young, modern positions meet tried-and-tested classics - this also describes the cooking style of the two landlords Johanna and Johann Halbwax. In the family business, Lower Austrian inn culture is embodied in the best possible way: regional dishes such as Jäger-Cordon-Bleu and roast pork are offered as well as stewed Lichtenwörth deer with wild garlic serviette dumplings. “Der Halbwax” is happy to serve game specialties. The meat comes from our own hunt.

Enjoy with protection from above

Since 1886 and in the sixth generation, the inn has moved in step with the seasons. The seasonal cuisine guarantees variety in the menu and inspires the audience. The Halbwax family has its own herb garden with the essentials. Basic agricultural products that find their way into the kitchen also ensure a fresh touch from the region. The ambience is harmonious and inviting with a typical tavern and light wood. The ballroom on the first floor or the guest garden is available for large celebrations. Celebrate without hesitation, with protection from above. The inn is guarded by a life-size statue of St. Florian.
