The Puchegger innkeeper in Winzendorf is often associated with a delicacy: the fine Puchegger smoked ham "The Original" is still smoked in the inn today as it was in great-grandfather's time. Dried in the in-house gourmet workshop, it develops an unmistakable taste over a period of weeks. But it's not just the ham that has star potential. Christoph Puchegger's modern interpretation of restaurant cuisine attracts food lovers to Schneebergland. Subtle influences from Mediterranean and French cuisine are recognizable. However, the focus is on regional specialties. Herbs and vegetables are grown in the restaurant's own garden. Meat and fish of guaranteed quality are sourced from local partners.

Philosophizing in the wine cellar

The family business is now run by the fifth generation. Head chef Christoph Puchegger's parents lovingly look after their guests. Johann and Sylvia cannot hide their passion for wine. And they don't want to. In the walk-in wine cellar, they like to philosophize about the fine wines as part of a vinophile journey. One floor up, the finely prepared dishes are delicious. The pickled trout with asparagus mousse is a seasonal treat. In combination with the corn-fed chicken breast, the in-house smoked ham comes into its own. The senior chef's home-baked bread is equally impressive. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Jams, spreads and schnapps are available in the "G`schäftl" in the inn.
