The quality of the products is crucial. This is also known at Gasthof Schindler in Lichtenau, where the consistent product quality is underlined by authentic, regionally rooted inn cuisine. Vegetables and herbs are picked fresh from grandma's lovingly tended organic garden. The game comes from the local forests around Krems. The trilogy of Waldviertler Teichkarpfen (pond carp) has great appeal on the menu. The medium-roasted Beiried slice in pepper sauce is exactly as it should be. Juicy, tender and full of flavor. From the vegetarian corner, the roasted dumplings with egg and mixed salad are delicious. For dessert, the Powidl pancakes are in a class of their own. There is nothing to shake about the fine, yet down-to-earth cuisine of landlord Otto Schindler. Locals, families with children, hearty gourmets and active day-trippers regularly stop off at the inn.

The cozy ambience at Gasthof Schindler is in no way inferior to the grandiose inn cuisine. From the table settings to the floral decorations - everything fits together perfectly. The classic tavern parlor is complemented by the exclusive Stüberl and the ballroom with seating for around 120 guests. The guest garden is freshly renovated, modern and contemporary. Directly adjacent is a popular excursion destinations: the Brunn am Wald caricature garden. This open-air exhibition focuses on the object and pictorial art of caricature.
