Description
Where there's planing, there's chipping: In the kitchen of the Gasthof zur Roten Säge, host and head chef Christian Bamberger pursues his passion. He roasts, steams and bakes - the latter is done by his wife Andrea Bamberger. Since 1990, the two innkeepers in St. Oswald in the Melk district have been serving regional culinary classics. Depending on the season, they offer asparagus, game, carp, pork and trout as well as various juices and liqueurs from their own production. The menu includes familiar and refined dishes: from beef carpaccio with herb pesto and handmade dumplings to spelt dumpling soup and red saw pancakes with grilled pork fillets and gorgonzola cream sauce. The dessert menu also tempts with homemade pastries and sweet dessert variations.
Inn on the Ysper
Gasthof zur Roten Säge is idyllically situated directly on the banks of the Ysper. So it's hardly surprising that not only locals but also day-trippers like to stop in. Usually after or before a visit to the Ysper Gorge, which is only 15 kilometers away. The inn's garden is a wonderful place to relax - guests have nature firmly in their sights. The regional specialties on the plate provide an enjoyable distraction. Tip: Don't miss the barbecue evenings in the summer months! Inside, guests can enjoy the typical tavern flair. The dining room is small with 20 seats. The dining room with an extra playroom for the youngest guests offers space for 60 people.
