Herz Hittn

Lodge / hut

Description

The Herz Hittn was first opened for the summer and hiking season on April 30, 2022. It is an existing mountain hut on the Unterberg, which until now was only open during the ski season - formerly the Herzog mountain restaurant. In winter, the hut is known for the Unterberg ski area, it is located right next to the valley station of the summit lifts. The Herz Hittn (1150m) is located on the Unterberg, at the end of the Piestingtal, in southern Lower Austria. The Unterberg is the north-easternmost mountain in the Alps and forms the center of the Gutenstein Alps.

With a beautiful view of the Schneeberg

On the large sun terrace with a beautiful view of the Schneeberg, hikers can relax and unwind with alternating hot meals and tasty sandwiches. Hiking trails lead to the Herz Hittn from all directions. The best known is the Viennese pilgrims' trail, which takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from the Drahtal parking lot (960m) past the Myralucke, along the marked hiking trail. Just before the summit, follow the turn-off to the right. Or you can hike comfortably along the forest road (4.3 km) for approx. 1 to 1 1/2 hours, the hut is right at the end of the road. Hiking trails also lead up from Rohr im Gebirge, Adamstal or Gutenstein.
