Landgasthaus Essl
Tavern / innThis business is excellent…
Description
Everything has its origins. The origins of Landgasthaus Essl go back to 1989. A wooden barn became an inn - the birth of the "Winzerstüberl". Small, charming and with five tables inside. The rest is known: Christine and Franz Essl carefully built up the country inn in Rührsdorf in the municipality of Rossatz. Philipp and Marie-Theres Essl take care of the finishing touches. The two took over the business in March 2023. The award-winning chef, with a reputation as a traditional innovator, is known for integrating the best of the region into his kitchen line. Because fine dining at three-toque level and traditional tavern culture with grammel dumplings, Beuschel and fried chicken go together perfectly, as he proves time and time again. The crispy fried chicken with fresh potato and creamed cucumber salad is not called the "best fried chicken in town" for nothing. The buttermilk-marinated salmon trout with kohlrabi not only sounds promising, it is. To accompany the dishes, the choice naturally falls on an excellent Wachau wine from the winery around the corner.
Sweet fruit at Landgasthaus Essl
Situated on the right bank of the Danube in the Wachau, surrounded by 76 apricot trees, the Landgasthaus - traditional but not old-fashioned - fulfills all the clichés of the Danube region. The motto here is: "Welcome to the land of wine and apricots!". The sweet fruit gives the dishes at the Landgasthaus a special touch and is prepared by the Essl family in a wide variety of ways. From bud to fruit - this symbiosis can be followed on the garden terrace. All you need is a bit of stamina. Home-made products such as apricot jam and pickled vegetables will delight your taste buds at home. And if you have enough time, you can explore the region along the Welterbesteig Wachau - Wachau World Heritage Trail and Danube cycle path.
