Description
The Prochenberg hut, the jewel of the Ybbstaler Alps, is enthroned at 1,123 m not far from the Prochenberg peak near Ybbsitz. From the village, the Alpine Club hut can be reached on foot as well as by mountain bike in about one to one and a half hours. Current information on opening hours can be found here.
From the lookout next to the hut you can not only look down on the countless wooded elevations of the Lower Austrian Pre-Alps but also on the village of Ybbsitz, the Iron Road and its history. Parking facilities for hikers are available at the Mitterlehen farmhouse in Prolling or the Haselstein Prochenberg farmhouse.
