Schlapf''n Wirt
Description
The Schlapf'nwirt is a lively meeting place with charm, tradition and good food. The historic building was first mentioned in a document in 1578 as a "Pachhaus" (a bakery) and has had many faces over the years: cooper, tobacconist, confectioner, sugar store. Today it is an inn, pub, event venue and place for social gatherings.
In normal operation, the Schlapf'nwirt is more of a pub than a traditional inn - which means that freshly tapped beers (e.g. from Murauer and Weitra Bräu) are the main focus when it comes to drinks. A special highlight is the annual barrel of Hacker Pschorr in October.
White wines from the region are also part of the drinks menu - with winemakers such as Karl Proidl, Franz Proidl and Martin Nigl as well as Vorspannhof Mayr and Weingut Stadt Krems. Occasional outliers outside this range expand the offer.
As far as food is concerned, guests are spoiled with hot and cold delicacies: house toast (crispy brown bread filled with ham and cheese), house sausages with fresh pastries and, at special events, pork dishes such as crispy ribs or a hearty "Beuscherl". Once a year, the traditional goose dinner with crispy goose and potato dumplings ("Gummler") attracts guests.
