Description

The tastes of the guests are different. Fried, baked or steamed? Hearty or light food? Whatever you decide on: At the Stadtwirtshaus Hopferl in Gmünd, every preferred taste is catered for. This is also due to the regional product diversity of the Waldviertel, with which the kitchen line is closely connected. Carps, poppy seeds, potatoes and creepers are professionally refined by landlady Monika Hag. Together with her husband Josef Hag, she always makes sure that the quality on the plate is right. The Blunzengröstl with grammels and warm bacon and cabbage is served with a lot of hospitality. It tastes even better that way. The roast beef from Waldviertel organic beef is excellent, served with root cream sauce, napkin dumplings and cranberries. The in-house Gmünder Stadtbier is a delicious accompaniment.

In the town inn like at home

The location of the Hopferl could not be better. Located directly in the centre of Gmünd, the Stadtwirthaus is a social institution. Social exchange takes place over food and drink. An old saying is confirmed once again: "Im Wirtshaus bin i wia z'haus". How apt. Because the Hopferl is a wonderful place to feel good and enjoy yourself - in summer in one of two guest gardens, either directly on the town square or a little more quietly facing south. Tip: Don't just order the Gmünder Stadtbier, but also a glass of wine! Outstanding exhibits are stored in the in-house vinotheque.
