Sights, culture & vacation in Aspangberg-St. Peter

  • With many enchanting spots, the Wild Water theme trail leads along the Pöstlingbach stream up to the Marienseer Schwaig or onto other hiking trails
  • A pleasure for beginners and advanced skiers: the cross-country trail section from Mariensee summit station to Marienseer Schwaig
  • The Hochwechsel, the highest peak, offers particularly rewarding views: the panoramic view stretches from Semmering and Rax to Schneeberg. In good weather, you can even see Burgenland, Styria, Hungary and Slovenia. From mid-May to mid-November, the Wetterkoglerhaus is also a great place to take a break.
  • The Herrgottschnitzer hut on the Kampstein is located at around 1,300 meters above sea level in the municipality of Aspangberg - St. Peter im Wechselland, making it one of the eastern huts in the Alpine arc. Hikers can reach the Herrgottschnitzer hut in around 1 to 1.5 hours from St. Corona or Unternberg. The leisurely path opens up wonderful panoramic views and makes you look forward to the culinary delights. The hut is also interesting for friends of rustic cosiness - the original structure has been left almost untouched for over 100 years.
  • The history of the Marienseer Schwaig (1,478m) on the mountain pasture of the same name dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. So it's clear that culinary traditions are also a priority here: only home-grown produce from the garden and homemade dishes, such as the popular fruit strudel, are served. Two paths lead from the parking lot at the Mariensee wetland biotope to the hut: the direct one (1 hour) or the slightly further one via the "Erlebnis Wildwasser" theme trail.
