Furth bei Göttweig
At the foot of the Göttweigerberg with the famous Benedictine monastery Göttweig, the "Austrian Montecassino", lies the wine-growing community of Furth. The market town of Furth covers an area of 12.37 km2 and is home to around 3000 inhabitants. As the gateway to the World Heritage Site of Wachau, it is the ideal starting point for exploring the region's rich cultural and artistic offerings. Hikers appreciate the idyllic hiking trails through forests and vineyards. Sports enthusiasts can compete on the tennis courts, in the indoor tennis hall or on the beach volleyball court. Delicacies from the kitchens and cellars of cozy inns and Buschenschank (typical taverns) are the perfect way to round off your vacation.
