Gresten
Gresten lies in the valley of the Kleine Erlauf, on the Iron Road. The romantic market town offers nature lovers, those seeking peace and quiet and families a vacation in the original sense. The village has received several awards for its achievements in the field of environmental, cultural and townscape conservation. The air here is still clear, the water clean and the forest healthy.
Sport, recreation & culture
Gresten has a lot to offer culture lovers in particular, as demonstrated by the Summer Culture event series in the Gastgarten and the numerous top events in the Kulturschmiede. Along the main street you will be greeted by town houses from earlier centuries, with the late Gothic parish church in the center. Idyllic views along the Kleine Erlauf invite you to linger. Hot summer days can be spent in the solar-heated Voralpenbad, the area is also home to a sauna oasis, a beach volleyball court and a fun court.
If the weather invites you to go hiking, Gresten is just the place for you. At the crossroads of many hiking trails, everyone from walkers to long-distance hikers will find their destination for the day. The pedal knights take the Kleine Erlauftal cycle path under their legs, which leads them to the mountains around Gaming or towards the Danube. Back in our friendly valley, you can fortify yourself with Ötscherland home cooking, Cider and beer from the region and the specialty of the area, sheep's cheese.
